The surroundings around Pasarel Dam are a wonderful place for a leisurely walk around the captivating pond combined with a touch of history.

The modest dam is part of the Iskar cascade and is located in the Pancharevo gorge, separating the forces of Plana and Lozen mountain.

Beginning of the trail around the Pasarel Dam

The beginning of the trail is located without any effort. We stopped at the stop of bus 3 opposite the nice roadside restaurant, which was gathering for a garden party.
There was a slight descent to the cable-stayed bridge, the main attraction of the dam.

The gallop of children’s feet gave ethereal vibrations to the bridge. After he was properly inspected and photographed from all sides, we continued on the path to his left.

The place is extremely photogenic and even one prom girl changed clothes after a dress sealed in a professional photo shoot.

The path was shady and winding very close to shore. The stillness of the still waters was wonderful.

Next to a few neat forks, there was probably the only sign we saw.

And now where?
And now where?

On a spacious meadow in front of us stretched the magnificent round hills of Lozen mountain.

A lone fisherman waited calmly for his star moment, despite the loud children’s noise from our large group.

Several zen pyramids rose along the path painted with purple wildflowers.

A great splendor are these lupines with a delicate violet color. I am mentally writing down a task for a future (probably unrealizable) garden project related to their home cultivation.

And what else can be seen around Pasarel Dam

In the middle of the trail we saw the steep deviation for the eco-trail “Lozenska planina” and peak Polovrak (12 km, 4 hours), which we leave for another time for logistical reasons. We wished an easy trip to the group of tourists who set out to conquer the top. We went for a leisurely walk anyway!

Also on this deviation after about 10 minutes to the left you reach the monument of Captain Dimitar Spisarevski. Here was the place of death of the brave pilot who rammed a heavy American bomber, leading the formation during the bombing of Sofia.

Final

The trail on the northern side of Pasarel Dam is an extremely quiet place, still relatively undiscovered by the massive Sofia tourist. Here you can organize a picnic and exercise in the fresh air surrounded by pastoral views in all directions.
