Alley of herbs – Boyana waterfall

Distance from the beginning of the eco-trail to Boyana waterfall – 2.30 hours.

Degree of difficulty – mild.

The Alley of Herbs trail starts from Belovodski Pat Street in Knyazhevo.

You can’t miss the beginning, as there are usually a lot of stopped cars.

GPS coordinates: 42.643165, 23.232842.

The markings next to the Golden Bridges are yellow. There are information boards dedicated to herbs and small wooden signs with thoughts of the naturopath and the founder of iris diagnostics in Bulgaria: Petar Dimkov.

Of course, like any self-respecting path, there are wooden bridges (although not always needed here in this case, but pleasing to the eye).

Nearby is the White Water Fountain, hence the name of the place.

The trail is wide and well-marked. On the day we walked on it, the weather was very nice and there were a lot of nature lovers.

The trail continues through the Arboretum (Dendrarium) area, famous for its great picnic areas, gazebos, bridges, and a great place for recreation in nature. I managed to take a few shots of the place, such as I have never seen it – without people!

Alley of herbs – Golden bridges

We reach the area of Golden Bridges. Here we go to the left, following the green markings and the signs for the Boyana waterfall.

In front of us is a vast meadow, inviting to rest and games.

Along a parallel to the asphalt road, a path reaches Momina Skala hut and the popular Stambolova polyana (meadow) for picnics in nature. If desired, a break for drinks and coffee.

Alley of herbs – final

This is where the more extreme part of the trail begins, as the last part is quite steep when descending to the waterfall.

Using the rocks and the naturally formed steps of intertwined branches and earth, we carefully descend in the direction of the roar of the falling water.

Time for selfies and photos of a beautiful view of the city from the top of the waterfall and the descending waters.
